Geneviv Fanous

Clinical Psychologist

Geneviv is a clinical psychologist who enjoys working with adults who are experiencing a range of psychological difficulties. She is passionate about establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients, and has a particular interest in emotion dysregulation. Her approach takes an evidence-based focus, while maintaining a warm, flexible and collaborative manner, to ensure that treatment is in line with client needs. She uses a range of evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

Geneviv obtained her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from UNSW. During her clinical training, she delivered group-based and individual therapy for the treatment of a wide range of clinical presentations including eating disorders, depression, anxiety, OCD, tic disorder, substance abuse and schizophrenia. She has previously worked with children and families to enhance communication and has facilitated a social skills training group for children and their parents (‘Capable Kids’).

Previously, Geneviv trained in a private psychiatric hospital setting delivering group therapy for the treatment of Eating Disorders. She has also trained at Redfern Community Health Centre, where she was involved in the clinical assessment and treatment for depression, anxiety and management of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In addition to her role at CPC, Geneviv has also worked at an inpatient eating disorders unit. Her Masters degree research explored aggression in the context of bars and pubs.
