At Wise Institute we foster the concept of being students for life, with programs designed for adolescents’ to acquire crucial emotional skills and adults to shift unhelpful thinking patterns. All of our programs are underpinned by a pedagogical approach to learning, ensuring concepts are delivered in the ways they will be best retained and made useful for application in the real world. Our goal for every program is to build capabilities while inspiring excellence.
Dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) workshops teach skills that reduce emotional suffering. Led by a DBT trained clinical psychologist and run in a seminar-like way, these weekly classes are held in eight-week blocks during the school term. The sessions are each an hour and a half in length and cover DBT skills across three separate modules:
Each of the above modules incorporate a mindfulness course during the first two workshops and then at the start of the workshop each week thereafter.
Our next course, Distress Tolerance, will be starting: February 2021
We’ve developed a plethora of lectures and courses to inspire excellence in mental health, providing practical experience and a learning scaffold for the application of the knowledge in a range of roles, including professional practice.
We also create bespoke presentations for audiences from secondary school teachers and hospital staff to counsellors and clinical psychologists—inspiring new understandings in mental and emotional healthcare.
