Did you know that 1 in 5 Australian adults experience a mental illness every year? The most common challenges across the country are depression, anxiety and alcohol and substance abuse. And at this very moment, 1 in 8 Australians are currently experiencing high or very high psychological distress. Yet, despite how common challenges with mental health are in Australia, many people never seek help or receive treatment for their condition. This can have far reaching consequences on their relationships, career, physical health and quality of life.
That is why it’s so important to make sure that everyone in Australia has access to quality mental health support and effective therapies to help them through the tough times. It is also paramount that knowledge, practical experience, and capabilities in mental healthcare be embedded throughout the community. And at Wise Institute, these are our guiding principles. With over 100 years of experience between us, our team provides exemplary mental health support, consultation and thought leadership across four key areas.
Sometimes, life is just hard, but the most important thing to remember is that help is available. Wise Institute offers specialist clinical psychology services to provide you with effective treatments and better outcomes, so you can live your best life.
The gold-standard services that we deliver range from treating psychological disorders, helping people navigate challenges such as the stress of dealing with losses or life stage transitions, through to enhancing their personal effectiveness, performance and wellbeing.
Across every stage of life, and any challenge you may encounter, Wise Institute is here to support you and help you thrive. With an unwavering focus on improving quality of life and helping you achieve your goals, we provide a warm and friendly environment where you can feel safe, comfortable and confident with your care.
Wise Institute is committed to unlocking the best in people – at home, at work and beyond. As part of this, we offer unique coaching that drives personal and professional growth for those working in fast-paced business and corporate environments.
Our innovative approach transforms psychological best-practices and behavioural change theory into actionable recommendations for professional settings. We promote new ways of thinking, expand perspectives, and help ensure your goals are met. Through our rigorous training, we empower people to truly thrive at work, while enabling strong, motivated and engaged teams.
At Wise Institute, our people strive to inspire excellence in mental health, and we truly believe in being students for life. Across every stage of adolescence and adulthood, we have developed tailored programs that prioritise your mental health, happiness and wellbeing. From promoting crucial emotional skills in teenagers, to empowering adults to shift unhelpful thinking patterns, our programs are underpinned by a pedagogical approach to learning, ensuring concepts are delivered in ways that they will best be retained and easily applicable to the real world.
One of our learning resources is the dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) workshops, which are designed to teach skills that reduce emotional suffering. Led by a DBT trained clinical psychologist, these weekly classes are held in eight-week blocks during the school term. By the end of the workshops, participants will have learned valuable, take-home skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Wise Institute also offer bespoke presentations to improve awareness of mental health and inspire new understanding of emotional healthcare. We work with different community groups, ranging from secondary school teachers, counsellors to hospital staff, to build practical experience and knowledge that can be applied to their environments.
At Wise Institute, everything we do is evidence-based and informed by the latest cutting-edge research, products and treatments. And we pride ourselves on effectively translating this knowledge into practice, in a way that has tangible benefits for the community. We also collaborate in exploratory research across cognitive behavioural science, learning, education and psychology to ensure we deliver high-impact projects.
Our Founder, Natasha Davis, was commissioned by Curiious, an innovative immersive learning company, to be Lead Subject Matter Expert to help develop an immersive social and emotional learning program, delivered via VR headsets to adults, educators and students. In this experience, users engage with emotional fitness tools using contemporary teaching strategies. With Wise Institute providing psychological expertise and team leadership, Curiious have delivered a virtual reality product that is now used locally and internationally.
Wise Institute is continuously striving to create and implement purpose-driven programs that enhance outcomes for our patients and improve their quality of life. Drawing on the experience of our seasoned team of psychologists, we only collaborate on research that has the potential to deliver solutions to real-world problems.
When it comes to mental health, it’s essential that the care you receive is tailored to your needs – because we know there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Each of our clinicians have areas of expertise, meaning you are paired with the most highly skilled clinical psychologist who can provide personalised care for your area of concern. Our compassionate clinical psychologists continually educate ourselves on current techniques that can help provide our patients with the best outcomes and offer a range of tailored treatments for children, adolescents and adults.
